Insuring Your Pet
Most people love animals and a large percentage have pets which are generally considered a part of every family but surprisingly not many pet
owners have actually bothered to have their pets insured. This statistic is even more peculiar when we consider insurance very high on our
priority list with cars, homes, boats and health insurance extremely important to the average American.
Many people consider pet insurance a frivolous matter until they have to face vet bills when their pet is sick. It is only when you are forced
to pay a large vet fee, as I was recently (almost 1,300 dollars), that you start to re-think your pet insurance policy.
So if the every increasing cost of pet insurance does not convince you to act, what will? The problem is that pets are often more liable to be
involved in an accident or become sick unexpectedly than we are and when you own a few dogs and cats, this can happen at anytime and usually
happens when you can least afford it.
The last thing you want to think about is money when you need your pet to have urgent treatment. I feel awful now that it is all over but I
had thoughts of not treating our dog when the vet informed us of the cost, at least 1,000 dollars he said, but what choice did I have really? On
this occasion my dog was fortunate and everything turned out well but the treatment in these instances is never guaranteed is it?
On this occasion we were lucky but the large vet bill placed us in an awkward position as we were having a few financial problems of our own.
Owing to another large financial commitment we were stretched a little financially but my bother helped us with the cost of treatment
occasion.
Owners with pet insurance do not have these worries, always assuring their pet receives exactly what treatment they need, irrespective of
cost. It doesn’t take much for a vet bill to escalate but the average monthly premium you will pay on a pet insurance policy will be less than
forty dollars.
Some pet insurance policies have a facility to incorporate more than one pet on the same plan but nearly all can be tailor-made to suit your
circumstances. If you have been giving pet insurance some serious consideration recently then maybe this article has made things a little clearer
for you.
